Salpingidae ye una familia de coleópteros polífagos. [1][2] Son inseutos forestales, la mayoría de les especies viven na madera podre o so la corteza, onde tán los depredadores, tales como los escarabayos de la corteza. Munchos grupos d'inseutos moviéronse dientro y fora d'esta familia, tal como se define equí inclúi a les families Dacoderidae, Inopeplidae y Othniidae.
