Drepanidae ye una familia de poliyes con unes 1000 especies rexistraes tol mundu. Estrémense xeneralmente en tres subfamilies ( Minet and Scoble, 1999) que comparten el mesmu tipu d'órganu auditivu. Thyatirinae, primeramente na so propia familia, tienen una semeyanza superficial con Noctuidae.^[1]

Munches especies d'esti grupu tienen un ápice distintivu en forma de gabitu nes ales anteriores, dando llugar al so nome común de gabitu.
