Katherine Alice Applegate (9 d'ochobre de 1956, Ann Arbor) ye una escritora d'Estaos Xuníos, autora de la novela "The one and only Ivan" pola cual recibió en 2013 l'importante premiu lliterariu Newbery Medal. Ye conocida igualmente por llibros como Animorphs, Remnants, Everworld y otres series de llibros, anque dalgunos d'estos llibros tán escritos por escritores pantasmes. Tamién utiliza un pseudónimu masculín[7] Los llibros más populares de Applegate son los de ciencia ficción, fantasía y aventura. Ganó'l premiu a les meyores series de llibros xuveniles(Best New Children's Book Series en 1997 en Publishers Weekly. El so llibru Home of the Brave ganó dos premios. Anguaño ta trabayando nuna serie llamada Roscoe Riley Reglamentu.

Applegate nació en Michigan el 19 de xunetu de 1956. Dende entós vivió en Texas, Florida, California, Minnesota, Illinois, Carolina del Norte, y dempués de vivir mientres un añu na llocalidá de Pelago (Italia), vuelve al sur de California.

En 1997, ella y l'home tuvieron al primer fíu, que s'identificó como una muyer transxéneru. En 2003 ella y l'home, Michael Grant, coautor de munchos proyeutos incluyíos Animorphs y Everworld, fueron a China p'adoptar a Julia.[8]

Cuando terminó d'escribir Animorphs, Applegate tomóse trés años de descansu. Volvió a l'actividá col llibru "The Buffalo Storm", la novela pa llectores nuevos "Home of the Brave" y los primeros capítulos de la serie "Roscoe Riley Rules". El so llibru "Home of the Brave" ganó'l premiu SCBWI 2008 Golden Kite al meyor llibru de ficción,[9] el premiu Bank Street 2008 Josette Frank,[10] y el premiu al llibru honoríficu Judy López Memorial[11]
