Gould nació en Los Angeles, California, a los sos padres Valerie y Tom Gould y foi criáu como xudíu.

Empezó la so carrera d'actuación siendo neñu y ye seique más conocíu por dar -y la voz al personaxe del títulu de Finding Nemo. Participó como convidáu en series de televisión tales como Ally McBeal, Malcolm in the middle, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Supernatural, Criminal Minds y Pushing Daisies. En 2004 interpretó a David Collins na remake de la telenovela Dark Shadows. Sicasí'l pilotu foi refugáu pola WB y nunca foi tresmitíu. Dende 2005 Gould interpreta a Shane Botwin na comedia dramática Weeds.
