Judith Ellen Skog (1944, Duluth ^(es) ) ye una botánica, pteridóloga, paleobotánica, taxónoma d'Estaos Xuníos, especialista na familia de fanerógames Cistaceae, con énfasis en Hudsonia.

Biografía

Ye la segunda de cuatro fíos d'una familia de llabradores. El so hermanu mayor ye'l botánicu Laurence Edgar Skog. Realizó los sos estudios na Universidá Tufts, onde llogró la so Bachelor of Arts en botánica. Ingresó a la Universidá de Connecticut, en Storrs onde llogró en 1968 la so M.Sc.. Y el doctoráu pola Universidá Cornell.

curadora, investigadora profesora emérita del Departamentu de Ciencia y Política Ambiental, de la Universidá George Mason, desenvolviendo'l Proyeutu Avances de Digitalización de Biodiversidá y Coleiciones.

Foi profesora visitante de la Universidá de Florida, en Gainesville.

Investigaciones

Los sos estudios centrar nes rellaciones evolutives de les pteridófitas indicaes nel rexistru fósil y per mediu d'analises moleculares, col oxetivu final de los tiempos d'apaición de grupos y el so papel nos ambientes del pasáu, según les rellaciones de los taxones esistentes y estinguíos. Les filogenias suxuríes pruébense temporalmente, sofitar n'evidencia fósil. Fixo fincapié nos felechos del Cretáceo utilizando'l Grupu Potomac local y el Grupu de Dakota. Otros estudios incluyeron el Carboníferu Inferior, Devónicu, y Triásicu. Gran parte del trabayu ye revisionista por cuenta de la meyora de les téuniques d'analises tales como l'analís molecular, microscopía electrónica y analís informáticu de calteres. Adulces, esti trabayu ta dando llugar a una vista de les families más primitives nel Cretácicu inferior, probablemente, nel papel de cubierta de la tierra, siguíu de nueves families nel Cretácicu Tardíu nuna posición menos dominante nel ambiente.
