Carmen Ascaso Ciria (1949, Castillo Pompién ^(es) ) ye una bióloga, microscopista, y liquenesóloga^[2] española, que desenvuelve actividaes académiques nel "Institutu d'Edafoloxía y Bioloxía Vexetal", del Conseyu Cimeru d'Investigaciones Científiques" (CSIC)^[3]

Foi descubridora y desarrolladora de nueves téuniques de microscopía electrónica, y en 2011 ye subdireutora del "Institutu de Recursos Naturales" del Conseyu Cimeru d'Investigaciones Científiques, y direutora del "Serviciu de Microscopía y Ecoloxía Microbiana.^[4]

Propulsó estudios del meteoritu d'orixe marcianu ALH84001 (Allan Hills 84001^[5]), afayáu na Antártida, cayíu hai unos 13 milenios, llevar al descubrimientu de pequeños cristales magnéticos (de magnetita) típicamente d'orixe biolóxicu, sofitando la teoría de la Panspermia^[6] Estes investigaciones llevar a cabu con Jacek Wierzchos.
