Mary Leebody (1847, Portaferry – 19 de setiembre de 1911, Derry) foi una botánica d'Irlanda de Norte, conocida pol so trabayu na flora de los Condaos de Londonderry y de Donegal.

Biografía[editar | editar la fonte]

Mary nació en Portaferry, Condáu de Down, en 1847. Allugar tamién como Mary Elizabeth Leebody, y n'otres fontes Mary Isabella Leebody.[1] Aproximao escontra 1867, casóse col profesor de matemática John Robinson Leebody de Foyle College, Derry, viviendo'l restu de la so vida nesa ciudá.[2][3] Mary finó en Derry, el 19 setiembre 1911.[4][5]

Obra botánica[editar | editar la fonte]

Conocida como una científica de campu acucioso, el so trabayu centrar na flora de los Condaos d'Antrim, Londonderry, y Donegal. Los sos años más activos correspuenden ente 1893 y 1904, y yera conocida y corresponsal de Robert Lloyd Praeger.[3] 

Foi miembru activa del Belfast Naturalists' Club de Campu. Mientres los 1890s collaboró con Praeger y Matilda Cullen Knowles, contribuyendo material pa "The Flora of the North-east of Ireland supplement", de Praeger, de 1895.[6]

Leebody acreitar cola adición d'un númberu de nuevos rexistros irlandeses, incluyendo la orquídea americana Spiranthes romanzoffiana, en 1893, marcando'l principiu del so trabayu publicáu.[7] Otros rexistros publicaos fueron Dryas octopetala en Muckish, Teesdalia nudicaulis en Lough Neagh, y Malaxis en Slieve Snaght.[1][2][5]
