The Bangles

The Bangles ("Les Bangles") ye un grupu de rock de los Estaos Xuníos. Foi xunto con The Go-go's ún de los primeros grupos de rock formaos esclusivamente por muyeres, nos comienzos de los años 80 del sieglu XX.

Componentes

Les sos componentes son Susanna Hoffs (voz/guitarra), Vicki Peterson (guitarra/voz), Debbi Peterson (voz/batería) y Annette Zilinskas (voz/baxu), toes con aniciu en California, EEXX.

Un poco d'Hestoria

Esta formación grabó un 45, "Getting out of Hand" b/w "Call on Me". Annette Zilinskas convirtióse na baxista de magar 1982, arriendes de tocar l'armónica. Con Ziliniskas, grabaren un llarga duración tituláu The Bangles, en 1982. Por embargo, Zilinskas dexó'l grupu en 1983 y foi reemplazada por Michael Steele, qu'antes tocaba con The Runaways.

El álbum debut de The Bangles con el sello Columbia Records, All Over The Place (del año 1984) logró captar las raíces pop del grupo, y captó la atención de Prince, quien escribió "Manic Monday", que llegó al #2 en Estados Xuníos con segundu llarga duración: Different light.

Falarase d'una posible rellación ente Prince y Susanna pero ésta desmintiéralo.

L'álbum Different Light (1986) taba meyor acabáu que'l so predecesor, y cola axuda del #1 "Walk like an Egyptian", la banda establecióse con bon éxitu nes radios FM y en MTV.

Depués, alcanzaron el #2 cola versión de Simon y Garfunkel, "Hazy Shade of Winter", incluyida na banda sonora de la película Less Than Zero, y nel recopilatoriu "Grandes éxitos".

El so trabayu de 1988 tituláu Everything foi otru éxitu multi-platinu, qu'incluyía'l so cenciellu de mayor venta, "Eternal Flame", pero les rellaciones de trabayu ente les integrantes del grupu deterioráren, y el grupu dixebró depués d'esti álbum. Susanna Hoffs empezó una carrera en solitariu, y Vicki Peterson salió de xira con The Go-Go's y Continental Drifters.

En el 2000, xuntaren pa salir de xira, y en 2001-2002, grabaren un álbum nueu, Doll Revolution. Un cover de "Eternal Flame" fecho por Atomic Kitten alcanzó el #1 en Inglaterra nel 2001. Doll Revolution, con canciones como "Stealing Rosemary", "Ride the Ride", "Nickel Romeo", y el single "Something That You Said", fou asoleyáu a entamos del 2003. El cantar Doll Revolution fou escritu por Elvis Costello. La versión xaponesa del discu presenta canciones adicionales.

En mayu del 2005, The Bangles anunciaron la partida de Michael Steele. La banda nun anunció planes pa reemplazala.

El grupu foi xubío al Salón de la Fama de Grupos Vocales nel 2000.
